Welcome to JGI Renovation & Remodeling ("JGI," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website jgirenovation.com and the services we provide.
By accessing our website or requesting renovation services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
1. Services Overview
JGI Renovation & Remodeling provides residential renovation and remodeling services in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), including:
- Basement finishing and legal basement apartments
- Kitchen renovations
- Bathroom renovations
- Full home updates and remodeling
- General contracting services
Services are subject to availability, location, and scope. We reserve the right to decline projects at our discretion.
2. Quote Requests and Consultation
2.1 Free Quote Requests
Quote requests submitted through our website or contact forms are non-binding inquiries. A quote does not constitute a contract or guarantee of services until a written agreement is signed by both parties.
2.2 Initial Consultation
In-home consultations are provided free of charge for projects within our service area. We aim to respond to all quote requests within one business day.
2.3 Quote Validity
Written quotes are valid for 30 days from the date issued, unless otherwise specified. Material costs and availability may change after this period.
3. Contracts and Agreements
3.1 Written Contracts Required
All renovation projects require a written contract signed by both JGI and the client. The contract will specify:
- Scope of work
- Materials and specifications
- Project timeline
- Payment schedule
- Warranty terms
- Permit and inspection requirements
3.2 Changes to Scope
Any changes to the agreed scope of work must be documented in a written change order and may result in adjustments to cost and timeline.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Payment Schedule
Payment schedules are defined in each project contract. Typical structure:
- Deposit: 25-30% upon contract signing
- Progress payments: At specified milestones (e.g., rough-in, drywall)
- Final payment: Upon project completion and client approval
4.2 Payment Methods
We accept e-transfer and cash.
4.3 Late Payments
Work may be paused if payments are not received according to the agreed schedule. Late payments may incur interest charges as specified in your contract.
5. Permits and Inspections
Where required by local building codes (City of Brampton, Mississauga, etc.), JGI will:
- Prepare and submit permit applications
- Coordinate required inspections
- Ensure work meets Ontario Building Code standards
Clients are responsible for permit fees unless otherwise specified in the contract. Delays caused by permit approval or inspection failures beyond our control may extend project timelines.
6. Project Timeline
Project timelines are estimates based on typical conditions. Actual completion may be affected by:
- Permit approval delays
- Material delivery issues
- Weather conditions (for exterior work)
- Unforeseen structural or mechanical issues
- Changes to scope of work
- Client-requested delays
We will communicate any anticipated delays promptly and work to minimize project disruption.
7. Warranty
7.1 Workmanship Warranty
JGI warrants our workmanship for one (1) year from the date of project completion against defects in installation or construction.
7.2 Materials Warranty
Materials and products are covered by manufacturer warranties. We will assist with warranty claims but are not responsible for manufacturer defects.
7.3 Warranty Exclusions
Warranties do not cover:
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage from misuse or lack of maintenance
- Modifications made by others
- Acts of nature (flooding, fire, etc.)
8. Cancellation Policy
8.1 Client Cancellation
Clients may cancel a project by providing written notice. Cancellation terms:
- Before work begins: Deposit may be refunded minus administrative costs and non-refundable permit fees
- After work begins: Client responsible for all work completed, materials ordered, and subcontractor commitments
8.2 JGI Cancellation
We reserve the right to terminate a contract if payment terms are not met, site access is denied, or if unsafe or illegal conditions are discovered.
9. Liability and Insurance
JGI carries general liability insurance for our employees and subcontractors. We are not liable for:
- Pre-existing conditions not disclosed by the client
- Damage to belongings not properly secured or moved
- Issues arising from client-supplied materials
- Consequential damages (lost rent, temporary housing costs, etc.)
Clients are responsible for securing their own contents insurance during renovation.
10. Website Use
10.1 Intellectual Property
All content on jgirenovation.com, including text, images, logos, and designs, is owned by JGI Renovation & Remodeling and protected by copyright laws.
10.2 Prohibited Uses
You may not:
- Use our website for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to access restricted areas
- Submit false or misleading information
- Transmit viruses or malicious code
- Scrape or copy content without permission
11. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute:
- We encourage direct communication to resolve issues
- If unresolved, disputes may be referred to mediation
- These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada
- Any legal proceedings will be conducted in Brampton or Mississauga, Ontario
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date will reflect changes. Continued use of our website or services after changes constitutes acceptance.
